**Teach the Teacher Tuesday; Revised Code of Conduct**

Recently, the VIT engaged in an extensive consultation process to seek the feedback of teachers, governing bodies, unions and a range of other key education stakeholders.

Using this feedback, the VIT has completed a Revised Code of Conduct which has recently been presented through a special edition newsletter. This newly revised Code of Conduct will take into effect as of Term 3, 2021.

Revisions to the Code of Conduct include;

  • greater clarity on the purpose of the Code and how it is used by teachers, stakeholders, the community and VIT

  • greater emphasis on teachers’ requirements in providing for the safety and wellbeing of children and young people

  • a recognition of the unique position of trust and the influence that teachers have over learners, and the expected professional boundaries between teachers and learners

  • ensuring it reflects contemporary expectations on a teacher’s professional and personal conduct, including online and on social media

  • revisions to be more inclusive of the early childhood sector / varied teaching contexts.

In assisting the implementation of the Revised Code of Conduct, the VIT has released a number of new resources and opportunities for professional development.

Webinars;
VIT will be delivering a series of webinars designed to support both educational leaders and teachers in understanding the key changes to the Code. For more information, follow:
